June 12th, 2015 | Summertime Stains

Hello everyone, summer is in full swing and we hope everyone is enjoying this time of the year when warm weather reigns, the sun shines longer, and we can all spend more time outdoors doing the things we love. Summer seams to come with its own set of fun activities like hiking, eating ice cream, having picnics and barbecues, and going swimming. These things all can cause their own unique stains to clothes, but that’s no reason to not enjoy this wonderful time of year. Go ahead and enjoy your summer and we’ll help you take care of any summertime stains you might encounter!

Grass Stains: grass stains are very common during the summer months and come in many varieties. Luckily, they are fairly simple to remove. For really tough grass stains we recommend soaking the garment in a bowl of warm water with a small amount of laundry detergent for about 30 minutes and then simply follow the normal launder instructions.

Mud Stains: little ones are bound to get muddy during their summer adventures. The best way to treat these stains is to let the mud dry and then remove as much of the mud as possible with a utensil. Once that is complete, wet the affected area, apply a small amount of detergent and rub the stain out. Once you’ve treated the stain launder normally.

Ice Cream Stains: ice cream is both delicious and dangerous, so be careful when you’re enjoying this summer treat. If you get an ice cream stain we recommend soaking the garment in cool water for 10 minutes. After that rub some detergent into the stain followed by 30 more minutes of soaking in room temperature water. Finally, apply some sort of spot remover for 7-10 minutes before laundering normally.

Ketchup/Mustard Stains: It’s difficult to have a proper barbecue without ketchup and mustard present, and stains are bound to happen here. First of all, scrape away the excess condiment, and then run the affected area under cool water. Next, rub the stain out with detergent, working your way from the outside of the stain inward. For white garments you may try applying some lemon juice or white vinegar as a bleaching element. Of course, launder as normal once the stain is removed.

Sunscreen Stains: These stains may happen during your day at the beach or pool, and fortunately it doesn’t take much to conquer them. We recommend applying a spot remover to the stain, and then pretreating by rubbing it with warm water and detergent before washing it normally.

Happy summer to everyone, and now that you know how to handle the stains, have fun out there without worrying!

May 18th, 2015 | Allergy Awareness Month

May is Allergy Awareness Month, just in time for the usual slew of allergens to return in the spring time. With 1 in 5 Americans suffering from either allergy or asthma symptoms, we need to do all we can to ensure we have clean homes to reduce the effects of these illnesses. Chem-Dry specializes in exactly that. We fight allergens and make your home cleaner and healthier to make the transition into spring easier on you and your family. Aside from having your home cleaned by us there are additional steps you can take to reduce the effects of the season:

Spring Cleaning: By keeping your home clean and tidy you can help reduce the amount of allergens and dust mites that exist in your home. Do simple things like emptying the trash daily, washing your bedding often, changing the filter in your furnace and air conditioner, and getting rid of any mildew. You’ll be surprised how such simple changes can make a big difference.

Keep Allergens at Bay: Part of the problem is that allergens cling to us and follow us into our homes. One way to keep them at bay is to remove your shoes, jacket, and hat when you enter the home. This way you leave them at the door instead of allowing them to tag along through the rest of the house. Another smart tip is to bathe at night, or even simply wash your hair before bed. This keeps your sleeping area clean and allergen free, which will allow you to get great sleep and wake up refreshed each day!

Pet Control: We all love our pets, but they are a common cause of allergies. There are some simple things you can do to reduce the allergy effects of having a pet while still being able to have them as part of your family. You’ll want to keep your pets off of couches, beds, and other living areas and ensure you clean up after them regularly. This includes bathing them on a regular basis. Your pets are lucky to have you, and following these simple tips can allow you to enjoy them without suffering from allergies.

November 20th, 2014

With the family home for the holidays, it can be exhausting and messy. Fortunately, many of the messes will be subdued thanks to the New Year. Let us worry about the messes so you have one last thing to worry about.

The exceptional carpet cleaning solution supplied by Pikes Peak Chem-Dry allows us to clean deeper and faster than any other company. Steam cleaners use gallons of water to push dirt and grime down further into your carpet fibers, hiding the mess rather than cleaning it, while Pikes Peak Chem-Dry’s carbonated solution removes dirt from individual carpet fibers and lifts these unwanted particles to the surface, where they are extracted with hot water. Since the carbonation bubbles are so effective at getting the dirt up, we are able to use 80% less water than most cleaners, giving you much quicker dry times! Call us today for a free estimate!

There are a lot of reasons to choose Pikes Peak Chem-Dry, including our natural solutions and friendly staff. But what makes us the most obvious choice for your home is our ability to clean faster and more effectively than any other brand on the market. We have harnessed the power of carbonation to restore carpet cleaning & stain removal unlike any other typical carpet cleaner - in fact, it's patented.

The "lifting" properties in carbonation are easy to see when you pour a carbonated drink into a glass. Many times it causes an overflow when the fizz and bubbles rush to the top. Dirt and grime are released from the fibers of your carpet using this same principle which is implemented by Pikes Peak Chem-Dry. An explosive reaction is created by the carbonation that makes this possible. Using the power of carbonation, we lift the dirt to the surface, and quickly remove them from your carpets. The results will surprise and delight you. Our method completely removes carpet debris and stains, giving you the most fulfilling clean feeling you can get from having your carpets and upholstery cleaned.

Gallons of soapy water and high pressure are used by steam cleaners, rather than our gentle, powerful carbonated cleaning. Cleaning this way pushes dirt and moisture down into your carpet, hiding the mess instead of cleaning it and creating a breeding ground for mildew and other bacteria. In addition, because of the excess water used in this process, your carpets will take at least 1-2 days to fully dry. Since Pikes Peak Chem-Dry uses the least amount of water possible, however, your carpets will be dry within just 1-2 hours. That means in the time it takes for your carpets to dry once after a steam cleaning, they would have dried 24 times if cleaned the Pikes Peak Chem-Dry way. That’s the Chem-Dry difference.

With low rates and high quality of service, we hope all will benefit from this professional carpet care. For cleaner carpets and happier homes, call us today!

It is good to have clean carpets but knowing when to call a professional carpet cleaning service can save you a lot of time and money. Most cleaners will tell you to use their service for every stain or spot, but many of these blemishes will come out using one of several simple home remedies. We want to let you in on some of the secrets that the other guys wouldn't want to tell you.

A quick, easy and very successful way to take care of a stain or spot is to simply dampen and blot the stain with a white cloth and warm water. A quick, easy and very successful way to take care of a stain or spot is to simply dampen and blot the stain with a white cloth and warm water. You will be able to most effectively transfer the stain from the carpet to your towel by carefully blotting it. As the spot transfers to your towel, the cloth will start to darken. Check your towel for this transfer often. If you don't see any darkening on the towel, stop the process.

For the stains that didn't come out with water, try using club soda. Club soda is a fantastic cleaner because of the carbonation.  At Chem-Dry we use this same principle of carbonation for cleaning in our patented solution. Like you did with the warm water, use a clean white cloth and dampen and blot the spot with the club soda looking for transfer often. It's time to call a professional if club soda doesn't give you results. The Chem-Dry way uses years of experience, along with the world’s best carpet cleaning solutions, to remove stains with ease.
